AARON “WHEELZ” FOTHERINGHAM

MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKING

Aaron captivates audiences with his charisma, humor, and laid-back attitude.

It's hard to imagine what it was like to raise a child like him. Adopted at birth, Aaron grew up in Las Vegas alongside five other adopted siblings. “Aaron defied the odds and embraced his disability in a unique way,” says his dad, Steve. His advice to parents? “Let your kids take risks. Aaron never attempted a trick he wasn’t ready for. He knew his limits and gradually pushed himself to try new things. When we saw him at the top of the 50-foot Mega Ramp, we weren’t afraid. We knew he was ready.”

As the first athlete of his kind, Aaron doesn’t have a coach. “No one has done what I do before me,” he says. “My BMX friends offer advice, but they don’t know how to perform tricks with a wheelchair. I have to figure it out myself. It takes a lot of practice.”

Aaron will continue traveling the world, competing in WCMX events, and inspiring the next generation of athletes in the sport he pioneered.
